First Eucharist (First Communion)
Children are usually prepared for the sacrament of Eucharist (Communion) when they are in grade 2. The Grade 2 program is a catechesis on the Eucharist (Mass). Classes consist of one night a week for 3 weeks and are approximately 1 hour in length. Children must attend all classes. There is a mandatory parent/guardian meeting during the first class. Parents are also invited to stay for all other classes. At the parish level the immediate preparation for the reception of Eucharist (Communion) is provided. It includes formation for parents and children. Children are prepared for the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to reception of Eucharist (Communion).
(Children must have received the Sacrament of Baptism or have made a Profession of Faith in the Catholic Church and the Sacrament of 1st Reconciliation in order to receive 1st Eucharist (1st Communion.)
First Eucharist classes are finished for this year.
